Starting pixel art series to create icon sets of all the locomotives related to Indian Railways. I didn't know where to begin but i encountered this website https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locomotives_of_India which contains pretty much all major locomotives used in IR, classified based on their guage, power, use case, etc.

So based on this i realized, i would go with following order,

  1. Electric -> Diesel -> Steam -> Mic
  2. Within above, sub type order will be Broad gauge -> Metre Gauge -> Misc.

In between i may switch and draw something else if it's more interesting but i will try to maintain the order. There are few trainsets like the first train which ran on Red Hills Railway, Madras or even the first passenger train which ran between Bombay to Thane, i have not been able to find their dimensions or pics but if i do get them i will draw them at the earliest.

Now, the first locomotive i went for is WCP-1, the first electric locomotive passenger train of was pulled by this engine in year 1927. It was operating under Great Indian Peninsula Railway.

Number 4000, a 2'Bo(A1) locomotive with the Winterthur universal drive, built by SLM and Metropolitan Vickers and designated as EA/1. There were many test locomotives and this was the one which won the bid, 21 such were produced. It was classified as WC-1.
